Kol Haruach Band Releases New CD –
Begins National Tour by Coming to Aid of Synagogue

Washington , DC – The long wait is finally over! The Kol Haruach Band’s first CD album, In The Beginning, will be released on May 9, 2004 to the delight if its many eager fans.

The band will begin a nation-wide concert tour to promote the new album. The tour will open with a benefit concert at the Mishkan Torah Synagogue in Greenbelt, MD on Mother’s Day, May 9 th. Following this, the band will head off to “Sun City,” Phoenix Arizona. The group will continue through the end of the year, with stops that will include major US cities.

Kol Haruach (Voice of the Spirit) exploded on the music scene by accident two years ago. The band’s five world-class artists were acquainted with each other, but only by reputation. Prior to this meeting, they each worked with their own bands and had already individually achieved recognition and success. They met in person at a jam session while at the Lansing, Michigan Jazz festival in 2001. The Kol Haruach Klezmer Band was born! And now, just two years later, they are releasing their first album (Klezmer with a hint of Jazz) and beginning a national tour.

The band features Vladimir Gamarnik on violin, Fred Jacobowitz on clarinet, Brian Choper on drums, Harry Appleman on keyboard and Victor Dvoskin on bass. Additionally, Julie Stacy and Meryl Cullom often accompany the band as vocalists.

This album will be thrilling to lovers of all kinds of music. It contains Klezmer favorites both old and new. In its 56 exciting minutes the listener will find time-tested pieces as well as new, original compositions, all arranged and performed by this talented group.

All five of the band members are accomplished jazz musicians as well. They are in the process of recording a jazz album that will express their unique style and flair. It will be released in late July.
