Kol Haruach Mission Statement

Kol Haruach Klezmer Band is a touring concert band which also is available for galas, weddings, the occasional bar mitzvah and other simchas. Klezmer is a music rich in history and heritage. The band's accomplished musicians have come together to create the best music possible, and to promote the Klezmer experience everywhere we play as we tour. We enjoy the energy of the live show, and it is part of our mission to pass on that improvisational and energetic experience, history and heritage to our audiences.

In addition to the tradition of Klezmer, it is also our goal to express the similarities in concept between Klezmer music and Jazz; the street-wise improvisation, the cultural styling (Jewish in our case), the non-liturgical roots, etc. As part of our belief that Klezmer is a living, developing art, we are adding our own new material to the traditional Klezmer repertoire. In our music, we experiment with the arrangements and orchestrations not to focus on any one instrument, but to ensure that each musician has his own unique moments in the spotlight... to allow all of the musicians to be heard either together or as soloists.

We view it as part of our commitment to this wonderful music to support Jewish culture and education. Kol Haruach Klezmer Band has - and will continue to - perform at reduced rate, or in some circumstances for gratis, to support causes we see worthy.
